Oita Prefecture LSI Cluster Promotion Council General Meeting to be held
About the Oita LSI Cluster Initiative
The Oita LSI Cluster Initiative was formulated with the aim of creating industrial vitality in Oita Prefecture - in other words, to develop and revitalize the region and its companies through collaboration and competition.
The Oita Prefecture LSI Cluster Formation Promotion Council was established in April 2005 to promote this initiative. By leveraging the strengths of major companies operating in the prefecture and local companies, as well as their specialized technologies, the initiative aims to become a 21st century semiconductor production base that is internationally competitive in terms of quality, cost, and delivery time.
To achieve this, a network will be formed that brings together industry, academia, and government, and strategic efforts will be made to further integrate advanced manufacturing technologies.
Specific efforts are being made based on four pillars: research and development, human resource development, market development/information provision, and member exchange.
The "LSI" in the initiative's name not only stands for large-scale integrated circuit (Large Scale Integrated Circuit), but also conveys the meaning of industrial development resulting from the large-scale integration of semiconductor-related companies in Oita Prefecture.
